WP6 continues the discussion on knowledge and skills which are required for implementing and operating the AEGOS SD infrastructure. The group also started to describe the qualifications which are expected from the partner institutions. A gap analysis based on the existing and required knowledge levels will follow to determine the needs in capacity building and training.
The following knowledge levels will be discussed during Workshop 6c on ‘Detailed technical contents using the inputs from the other Work Packages in Lusaka: ![]() The knowledge baseline will be described through professional profiles including a summary of skills required for the job specified on information technology,data/metadata/information management, provision of products/services and operational management. Since more details on elementary skills and capacities are required, further discussions will be conducted during the following months with WP1 ‘SDI, Reference Model, Metadata and data specifications’, WP2 ‘Architecture specifications’, WP3 ‘Identification of data themes, User oriented Products and Services’ and WP8/Task 8.5 ‘Sustainable AEGOS infrastructure’. The baseline and levels will also be discussed with all project partners at the Mid-Term Conference in Dar es Salaam since they are the basis for planning adequate training courses in the implementation phase of AEGOS.
